Event Overview

What is the Cultural Celebration?

The Cultural Celebration is a program commemorating the dedication of a new Latter-day Saint (Mormon) temple in the Gila Valley. Through song, dance and spoken word the cast of an estimated 1600 youth will celebrate the rich cultural history of the area, focusing on the contributions of church members over the years that have culminated with the building of the temple.

Where and when is it, and who can attend?

The Cultural Celebration will take place Saturday, May 22 at 7:45pm, at the Eastern Arizona College football stadium in Thatcher, Arizona. Seating will be provided for about 3600 people and will be by advanced ticket only. Tickets will be given primarily to the parents and siblings of the youth performers.

This event will also be broadcast live over satellite to all equipped LDS meetinghouses in the United States. Those wishing to view the broadcast via satellite at a meetinghouse outside the temple district should contact local church leaders to make arrangements.

Why should I participate?

For most people, having a temple built closeby is a once-in-a-lifetime event. It is a cause for great celebration, as it is always accompanied by a huge outpouring of the Sprit of the Lord and many great miracles and blessings in the lives of those both inside and outside the temple. The spirits of those who have gone before us will sureley celebrate along with us on this occasion.

Participating in the cultural celebration will be a unique chance to demonstrate the joy you gain from living the gospel. In addition, it will be an opportunity to hear the current president of the church, Thomas S. Monson, speak live and in person.

The cultural celebration will be a great chance to associate with other youth from this area who share your values and excitement. Come with a great attitude, and you are sure to have a special, memorable and personal experience.
